The Hill of Slane

The Hill of Slane is A well-preserved tower is to be found among the ruins of a Franciscan Monastery,

dating from 1512, itself built on site of a monastery founded by St. Erc, a follower of St. Patrick.

The ruins of a college, built to house four priest, four lay brothers and four choristers, also remain. These were built by the Flemings (Barons of Slane from the 11th – 17th Centuries) for Franciscans; the family coat of arms can be seen on the west wall of the college quadrangle. Thirty years after its foundation, the monastery was dissolved by King Henry VIII, its land and wealth appropriated. In 1631, the Flemings restored the monastery. It became Home to Capuchins monks, who in turn, were driven out in 1651 by Oliver Cromwell.

Absolutely stunning area to visit and walk , talk & unwind the days after your wedding

Opening to a fairy-lit garden, split-level Inside Out blends premium Irish produce and Mediterranean flavours. Slane Whiskey–marinated spatchcock chicken and Clogherhead prawn, squid and mussel paella are highlights; a wood-fired oven also bakes pizzas like the Gambino (with Slane garlic sausage) or Josip (with black pudding and Boyne Valley blue goat's cheese). Live acoustic sets play in summer.

Inside Out opened its doors in December 2016.

The inspiration of Chef James Ausden and Front of house Edel Healy, who have worked their whole lives in the industry and the last 10 years working together.

James and Edel wanted to create something a bit different, a place that would take you away and make you feel you were dining in a Mediterranean courtyard.

They wanted to re create those simple yet intense Mediterranean flavours into locally produced dishes, giving diners that little piece of holiday escape.

With the backing of a fantastic experienced crew behind them, they will further strive to give theirs customers the best value and dining experience possible.
